# Create a Study
After completing the basic setup, you can start creating a study. Click Studies in the left sidebar to navigate to the Studies list.

### 1. Create a New Study

**To create a new study, click ****+ Create New Study****.**

**Fill in Study Information**
In the pop-up window, fill in the following information:
* Study Plan Tit: Enter the study plan title
* Responsible Officer (PIL): Select the responsible officer (PIL)

**Once all information is confirmed, click ****Create Study.**

### 2. Enter Editing Mode and Create Groups
* Start Editing: The system will redirect to the new study's overview page with status Creating. Click **Start Editing** in the center of the screen.
* Add Group: In the editing interface, click **+ Added Group** to start defining experiment groups.

### 3. Step 1: Create Group Information
Fill in the group's basic information in the right panel:
* **Group name**: Group name
* **Group Description**: Group description (optional)
* **Number of mice**: Number of animals per group
* **Background**: Background strain (e.g., BALB/c)
* **Source:** Animal source (e.g., NPC)
* **Gender :** Sex (Male / Female)
* **Genotype :** Genotype (e.g., HOM)
* **Drug :** Select Treated or Untreated
If **Treated** is selected, the following additional information is required:

**Treatment start**: Age at treatment initiation (weeks)

Click **Add Drug** to add a new drug group

Fill in the Administration, Drug Name, Dose, and Unit fields, then click **Next Step**.

### 4. Step 2: Assign Methods
Assign an observation method (Methods) to each animal in the group. Use the dropdown to select an existing Methods profile, or click **+ New Methods Setting** to create a new one.
#### In the Methods Setting window, configure the following:

**Methods name**: Name of the observation method

**Weight: Age at which body weight measurement begins (weeks)**

**Tissue: Whether to collect tissue samples, and the age (weeks) at which collection occurs**

If Tissue has a specified collection time, Survival cannot be selected.

**Survival: Whether to track animal survival status**

If **Survival** is selected, Tissue collection time cannot be specified.

**Experiments:**
Whether to conduct behavioral experiments. Configure the start age, frequency (Every day / Weekly / Twice a week / Every other week / Monthly), and check the applicable experiment items (e.g., Rearing, Tremor)

Once all settings are complete, click Done to complete the Methods Setting. The system will automatically assign the newly created method to the animals.

Assign methods — allocate a method to each animal in the list

When finished, click **Done** in the bottom-right corner to proceed to Step 3.

### 5. Step 3: Assign Tissue Collector
Assign a responsible person (Tissue Collector) to each animal that requires tissue collection. Use the dropdown to select a laboratory member, then click **Done**

### 6. Enter Basic Animal Information
Once all groups are configured, fill in the following information for each animal in the main table:
1. **Mouse ID**: Must be entered manually. (IDs must be unique within the same source + genotype combination; duplicate IDs are permitted across different source + genotype combinations.)
2. **Date of Birth**: Date of birth
3. **Cage number**: Cage number
4. **Ear notch**: Ear notch marking (e.g., L, LL, LLR)
Once all entries are complete, click **Done** to finish data entry.
After saving, the page remains in the Creating status. Click Edit study to add more groups or modify settings.
Based on the entered date of birth and Methods configuration, the system will automatically calculate the following dates:
* Treatment onset (if a treatment start time has been specified)
* Weight Start Date
* Experiments start date
* Date of Death (if a tissue collection time has been specified); can also be manually modified

### 7. Submit and Start Recording (Submit)
Once all group and animal configurations are confirmed, click **Submit**. The system will prompt:
> **Next Step: Start data collection and recording** There are mice that need experiments/weight recording, drug administration. Please start logging data in the study.
Click **Start Recording** . The system will ask for confirmation again:
> **Confirm Before Recording Phase** Experiment settings will be locked. Please verify all configurations are correct.
Once confirmed, click Start Recording again. The Study status will change to In progress, and the study will enter the data collection and recording phase.

### 8. Enter the Recording Phase
Study has been submitted and the study enters the In Progress state, the experiment tabs (Weight, Gait, Grip-Strength ) will appear at the top. Click into each tab to start recording data.
